A New Blog 新しいブログ

Wow, I have started blogging in January 2006, so 6 full years have passed...

In the past 6 years, many things have happened. Really.

There is nothing to hide. Everything is my precious memory.

You may have noticed that I create a new blog html address every two years, so it is time to create a new one for the year 2012 and 2013. I changed the look a bit.

I look forward to staying in touch with you at this new blog address.

New Year's Eve 大晦日

On New Year's Eve, I was working on my students' report cards.

At night, my maternal relatives got together and had a family dinner.

I appreciated that everyone could come together. In Japan, there are many families who could not do that. This would be the first New Year's Day for some families since they've lost their loved ones due to the earthquake and the tsunami. For them, it must be very different from the last year's. Some familiar faces are missing. It aches my heart to think about this fact.

When I prayed in front of my grandparents' altar last night, I thought of my ancestors who have passed down their lives to us despite of the wars, poverty, and illness. It boils my heart to think about this fact. I feel their love for offsprings in my blood and flesh.

Many things have happened in this year.

I lost people who were truly dear and near to me and experienced very painful separations. In that sense, it was a heart-wrenching year. However, they made me appreciate life even more...

I could have gone through this year because of you.
Please allow me to use this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your presence in my life.

Underwater Photo Shoot Day Version 水中撮影 昼バージョン

These were taken during the day. (The previous blog post shows the shots that were taken at night.)

Day and night have different feelings. I enjoyed both.
The night time shot was quiet, sacred, and internal process.
The day time shot was bright, joyous, and yet still internal process.

Underwater Photo Shoot Night Version 水中撮影 夜バージョン

This photo shoot was actually done in November 2010. I was honored that my friend and a professional photographer, Richard Marks, asked me if I could be a model for a underwater photo shoot session.

Since I was young, I have always had a special interest in an element called water. Its unique beauty mesmerized my heart. And I love photography. I am not used to being taken, but I like taking photos. I have not seriously studied photography yet, so I don't know how to take what I want to take, but when I heard that I could join the process of combining these two things - photography and water, you can imagine how excited I was.

Richard Marks is a kind hearted yet passionate photographer - very easy to work with. Please visit his website. Also if you need a photographer for a wedding on Maui, he is the right one to call.
