My Fourth Scarf 4本目のマフラー

I finished knitting this scarf. I started it on Thanksgiving Day.

This is for Ty's stepmother in Chicago. I hope she will like it.

The more I knit, the more I love knitting.

I want to find a knitting class on Maui, but I don't know if there is any. If you happen to know one or any DVDs that are helpful, please let me know.

これはシカゴに住むタイの継母さんのために。喜んでもらえるといいです。

編むほど、編み物が好きになります。

The 1st Semester is Done 今学期が終わりました

This semester ended on the 17th.
After being hired 5 days prior to the first day of school, my first year of teaching at a public school began quite hectically, trying to get my classroom and lesson plans, and everything else ready. As much as I was completely absorbed in the overwhelming amount of work, as the days passed, I started to have some room in my life and heart to purely enjoy the teaching experience itself. No matter how tired I was, I could get up every morning by thinking about how much fun my students and I would have that day. I deeply appreciate this wonderful blessing I have - to be doing my dream-job.

学校の今学期が17日に無事終わりました。

8月の新学期の始まる5日前に雇われ、大急ぎで教室やレッスンプランを用意し、初めて教えさせていただいた公立小学校、無我夢中でやってきた過去5ヶ月でした。無我夢中ではありましたが、少しずつ楽しむ余裕も生まれ、いくら大変でも、どんなに朝眠くても（7時には家を出るので）、子供たちと過ごす毎日が楽しみでやってこれました。こうして夢の職業に就かせてもらっていることに心から感謝します。

ちっちゃい頃みたいに傘を家に見立てて遊んでたときみたいに
傘の下に入れるか、ちょっと試してみてるとこ。
そうですね。大きくなったみたいで、ちょっと無理ですすね。

Word Wall - Contraction ワードウォール(壁) - 前置詞と冠詞の縮約

My students are learning how to contact words together.

For example, "I" and "have" together make "I've."

It is a bit tricky, so I made this word wall, and I am planning to create a game out of this...

前置詞と冠詞の縮約について、子供たちが勉強しています。
例えば、「I」と「have」が一緒になると、「I've」になるといった。
ちょっと慣れるまでは、子供たちの頭の周りに、「？」マークがたくさん飛び回っているように見えます。なので、教室の壁にこんなものをを作ってみました。これでゲームをしようと思っています。

There are so many things I want to do with them, and I just don't seem to have an enough time to do all :-)
There are only 3 more days of school, and the winter break will begin.
I will miss my kiddos, but it will be nice for all of us to have a break.

子供たちとしたいことを挙げていったらきりが無いというくらい、色々アイディアがあります。時間がちょっと足りないんだけど。学校もあと3日で冬休みに入ります。
子供たちに会えないのはさみしいけど、でも子供たちも私も休みが必要！

Cute Hawaii-Born Snowmans ハワイ生まれのかわいい雪だるまたち

My students and I made a new calendar for this month, and the children wanted to make snowmans to decorate the calendar, so we did.

今月（12月）用のカレンダーを生徒たちと作りました。
生徒たちの希望で、雪だるまでカレンダーを飾りました。

It's interesting to see how each snowman is different even thought the children got the same material to use.

同じ材料を同じ数だけもらった子供たち。それでも一つ一つの雪だるまが、個性をもってユニークにできあがるのが、とても興味深い。

We felt the white snow in this tropical island.

(The "white snow" were made with glue and white sparkles.)

子供たちとこのトロピカルな島で、ホワイトスノーを少しだけ感じたのでありました。

（白い雪に見立てたのは、のりを置いた直後に白いキラキラしたプラスチックで出来た粉を振りかけて乾かしたもの。）

A Handmade Soap 手作り石鹸

One of my Maui friends, Chimiko-chan gave me this beautiful soap which was handmade by her. (She even made this little bag for the soap.)

I have many wonderful friends who are creative; they can produce things that I usually buy at stores - very inspiring and empowering.

Chimiko is also a talented illustrator who recently provided illustrations to her friend's published yoga book.

Billy Elliot リトル・ダンサー

There are many, many wonderful movies, and among those, this is one of those I strongly like - "Billy Elliot. (2000)"

If you are a dancer, this is a must, and if you are not, this is still a great one; you will be inspired to follow your dream whatever it might be. It's quite humorous, too.

My favorite scene is the very end where Billy's dad is sobbing in the audience. That's where I cry every time I watch :-)

沢山のお気に入りの映画がありますが、その中でも大好きな映画の一つが2000年に制作された「ビリー・エリオット」。（日本では「リトル・ダンサー」として公開されたようです。）

ダンサーであればもちろんのこと、ダンサーでなくても見て損のない映画です。あなたの夢が何であれ、夢を追う心に火をつけてくれます。ユーモアもたっぷりです。

一番お気に入りのシーンは、最後に主人公のビリーのお父さんが観客席で嗚咽しているところです。そこを見る度に泣いてしまう私であります。

Thanksgiving on Lanai 感謝祭の日をラナイで

Last week, on Thanksgiving Day, I was invited to go to Lanai by my dance teacher, Sarala. I had taken a day trip there once before to surf at Manele Bay during a summer, but I had never camped there, so I thought that it would be fun to stay over night and spend time with my dance teacher and her family, so I joined the adventure :-)

先週の感謝祭（サンクスギビング）の祝日に、私の踊りの先生であるサララから、一緒にラナイ（マウイのお隣の島）に行かないかというお誘いを受けました。それまでに一度、ある夏に日帰りで、ラナイのマネレベイにサーフィンをしに行ったことはあったのですが、キャンプをしたことはありませんでした。ラナイで一泊二日過ごしてくるのも、サララ先生の家族と過ごすのも楽しいなぁと思い、そのお誘いにのりました。

We even saw dolphins while we were swimming!
They were so playful and stayed around us for awhile.
何と野生のイルカにも会えました。
朝泳いでいたら近くにやってきたのです。
とても遊び好きなようで、しばらく回遊していました。
