| Maui Izanai dancers were invited to Kako's house to perform one piece. I took this photo at her home. マウイのイザナイダンサー達が、かこさんのお家にお呼ばれして 踊ったときに、このお花がきれいだと思って撮りました。
May was a big month because it was the last month of the school year.
On the last day of school, I could not hold back my tears.
As I told them the following things, tears started to well up.
I took a deep breath to finish my sentences.
I told them that I was sorry if I made them feel sad in any way because I misunderstood them.
I told them that it was my honor to be their teacher, and I learned a lot from them.
I told them that I wish them all the best always, and I would be here if they ever need someone to talk to.
I told them how much I love each and every one of them.
As I wrote in a card to each child, if I could choose one prayer for them, I would pray that they will always remain their own best friend to themselves and know their worthiness which cannot be compared with anyone else; hence they respect others the same way.
One last quote for them was: "When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy." -Rumi
I hope that these children feel as many rivers as they can throughout their lives!!
Thank you very much for the wonderful school year!

五月は濃い月でした。学校の一年の最後の月だったので。
終了式の日に、教室で以下のことを子供達に話しているうちに、涙がこみ上げてきて、初めて子供達の前で泣きました。深呼吸をして話し終えました。
「今までにあなたたちのことを、本当に分かり切らずに、怒ってしまったことがあったとしたらごめんなさい。」
「あなたたちの先生であれたことを、心から誇りに思います。沢山のことを学ばせてもらいました。」
「みんなのこれからに幸あれ。そして誰か話し相手が必要なときは、私はいつでもここにいます。」
「とてもとても愛しています。」
一人一人に手紙も書いたのですが、みんなに共通して書いたのは「あなたちのために、祈りを一つ選べるとしたら、私はこのように祈ります。あなたが、あなた自身の一番の親友であり続けること、そして自分の価値を他と比べることなく知っていること。それにより、他の存在が尊いことを知り、尊敬を持って接すること。」
そして最後に引用した「言葉」は（毎日、誰か有名な人たちが言った言葉を勉強していたので）詩人ルミの「魂から何かをするとき、自分の中に河の動きを感じる。それは喜び。」というものでした。
この子供達が大きくなっていくうえで、沢山の「河」を感じることが出来ますように。
素晴らしい一年をありがとう。
